Moh-teef (pronounced same as Motif) launches on Sat 4th Feb, bringing artists such as Margaret Dygas, Kozo & Cezar Anthony Collins and Cadenza’s Alex Picone to the new venue. The ethos behind [moh-teef] is to provide an intimate, friendly vibe where residents are joined by one or two guests each week – with a mix of more established names alongside hot new talent.

‘[moh-teef] - A central theme, a recurring subject, or an idea, especially in musical, literary, or artistic work…’

The pivotal point on the club...

Its that time of year again! The pivotal point on the club calendar, with hundreds of parties sprouting all over the place, taking over everything from your local pub back room, the warehouse’s in east london, clubs all over the capital, your own living room, and the list goes on. Here below are our recommendations for where to party this New Years Eve and New Years Day. We could have told you to go to Hot Natured @ Pulse or CircoLoco @ Proud2 but we wanted to give you some more interested (and less subscribed to) party suggestions, so here goes;

Krankbrothers NYE Party w/ Hannah Holland, Dana Ruh and the Krankbrothers

Kieran and Danny Clancy have been running parties for a very short amount of time, but have proven themselves as brilliant party hosts, good talent bookers, and even DJs in their own right. Having hosted an array of parties in 2012 in venues ranging from roof tops, to terraces, warehouses, railway arches, derelict pubs and all kinds of other exciting places-they really have gone from strength to strength!

Saturday 31st December, 2932 East, 29-32 the Oval, E2 9DY

Cable presents Faster @ Cable

On a slightly different tip, Faster brings a selection of the finest drum & bass / dubstep / electronica to Cable for 12 hours of ‘Faster music’. With the likes of Friction, Cyantific, Markus Intalex, D-Bridge, Rockwell, Total Science and plenty more on the bill, it is sure to be a busy one and full of good energy. Not the strongest of lineups as far as the NYE competition is concerned, but still a strong night all together nonetheless.

Saturday 31st December. Faster @ Cable. 33a Bermondsey Street Tunnel, London SE1 3JW

XOYO New years Eve w/ the 2 Bears, L-Vis 1990, Disco Bloodbath and more

XOYO launched just over a year ago in the heart of East London. Its a great little venue with a nice sized main room (in the basement) for 500 people. The venue covers a wide range of musical genres with Live Music gigs most nights of the week, art exhibitions always showing in the ground floor bar, and club nights on the weekend. With ‘the 2 Bears’ on the lineup for NYE, its sure to be a great party and not too ‘serious’ on the dance music front- GIMME A BEAR HUG!

Saturday 31st December @ XOYO, 32-37 Cowper Street, EC2A 4AP

Jaded New Years Day (and 2nd January!)

Jaded has been a Sunday success story for over 7 years. Now in its home of almost 2 years at Cable (London Bridge), it attracts up for it after hours crowds of 500+ week in week out and strives to provide the best (and often extended, stripped back) DJ sets from a number of guests including Mr C, Bushwacka, DJ T, Konrad Black, Mark Henning, Loco Dice, Chris Liebing, Pan-Pot, Shlomi Aber and Lee Jones.

On New years day, Jaded brings you a 4-hour set from Jerome Sydenham and on Monday 2nd January with Dario Zenker. 2 seperate parties both running 5/6am until 1/2pm.

This party is not for the weak- you have been warned!

1st & 2nd January. Jaded @ Cable. 33a Bermondsey Street Tunnel, London Bridge SE1 3JW

More suggestions;

Urban Nerds & Basslaced feat. Swamp 81- Hearn Street Car Park, East London

Cargo NYE w/ Paul Woolford, Luke Solomon and Shane Watcha- Cargo, East London

Miguel Cambell & Alex Arnout @ Basing House- East London

New York Times's perspective on the Los Angeles after-hours scene...

New York Times's perspective on the Los Angeles after-hours scene...

http://kimjongildroppingthebass.tumblr.com/

<a href="http://kimjongildroppingthebass.tumblr.com/" title="Kim Jon Ill dropping the bass!
Here’s to a great 2011 and a very prosperous 2012…

Cable announces the launch of new sister venue…...

Cable announces the launch of new sister venue… RELAY

Relay- created out of the space that was previously Cable’s mysterious 3rd room, Relay is now a standalone venue in its own right, with a program of events that will run parallel to the parties at Cable next door. Having expanded into another arch at the back of Cable, the new space is larger, with a new seating area away from the dance floor, new bar, cloakroom, and some shiny new toilets. In addition, Relay is being kitted out with a spanking new Nova sound-system especially configured for the new space - bringing it up to the same world class standard as Cable’s main room. The lighting rig will be totally overhauled, with low hanging lights adding to the intimate atmosphere, and new LEDs across all the walls creating an ever changing sheet of colours. At the same time, the exposed brickwork and historic and atmospheric feel created by the railway arches remains.

Relay will be run by the same award-winning team behind Cable (Time Out’s Best Club Venue 2011) and will enable them to program an even more diverse range of parties across two venues in their London Bridge home. An independent program of events will run in the 500 capacity space, although for really big nights Relay can still open as part of Cable, providing a third room as it did before – only bigger, better and louder! Relay is also set up to handle live bands as well as DJs, opening up further exciting possibilities for both venues.

Ryan Ashmore, Head of Business Development for Cable said: “Transforming this additional and underused space into a fully-fledged sister venue is a natural progression for Cable. It’s really exciting to have already reached a stage where we are expanding, despite not even having reached our 3rd birthday!”

Since Cable burst onto the scene in 2009, it has become synonymous with quality underground sounds. Fridays at Cable are well established as a home of Bass music, with artists such as Subfocus, Joker, Plastician and Dr P gracing the decks. Saturdays showcase a diverse range of cutting edge sounds, such as when We Fear Silence present sell-out D&B nights such as Shogun Audio, Metalheadz and A Bunch of Cuts, grimey goodness from Butterz & Hardrive, or techno from Blueprint Records. Sundays mornings, of course, are home of the infamous Jaded afterparty.

Relay’s flagship Saturday night will be a weekly house night {Moh-Teef}, launching on Sat 4th Feb and bringing artists such as Kozo & Cezar and Cadenza’s Alex Picone to the venue, alongside residents J Nelson, Pete Glasspool and Leroy Roberts. The team behind {Moh-Teef} felt that there was a gap in London’s nightlife for a quality, underground weekly house night – and wanted to provide a party where house heads can drop by, regardless of who’s playing, and know they’ll be friendly faces and a great soundtrack. The ethos behind {Moh-Teef} is to provide an intimate, friendly vibe where residents are joined by one or two guests each week – with a mix of more established names alongside hot new talent.

In the aftermath of this HUGE party, I managed to find some time to catch up with Daniel Zedelmair, the guy behind Jackmode and its roster, to talk about Jackmode, and also about their next party taking place on 18th December…

AB: Hi Daniel, so where did Jackmode begin? What influenced you to start an agency? Why not a club night, or a label?

DZ: Basically, Lucas Hunter from ZOMBIE DISCO SQUAD started Jackmode in London looking after the likes of Edu K, Crookers and Sweat.X. He stopped it, when the guys got big with ZOMBIE DISCO SQUAD. I worked for Support Agency in Berlin back then, and took ZDS on our roster. When I decided to start my own agency, it kinda started with Zombie Disco Squad as my first act, before we even had a name for it. The idea to name it Jackmode again just felt right considering what we planned to do.

I was already running a series of events in my hometown of Ulm for the last 3 years. But the agency soon became my absolute priority. Regarding events, we just started with the first Jackmode night at Counter Culture in November, which was amazingly well received, so we’ll have another one there in December. But we also have 6 Jackmode nights at Crux in Munich, one at Social Club in Paris, as well as two at Hive and Club Bonsoir in Switzerland next year.

To complete the question, the label will follow next year as well. We’ve planned to kick of with 6 EPs in the first 6 months of next year. But its a bit too early to speak about that in more depth.

AB: How was your current roster of artists put together? Its pretty impressive!

DZ: As already mentioned all started with ZOMBIE DISCO SQUAD. They hooked me up with SOLO and RENAISSANCE MAN (who left later to Decked Out). Then we overtook ROUND TABLE KNIGHTS, with whom we’d already been in touch with via their parties in Switzerland. When Made To Play stopped their own booking unit, Jesse Rose contacted us to take over their main artists. Our ongoing relationship with Andrew Kelsey and his US agency LIAISON ARTISTS (former Blue Collar) lead to our Europe engagement for dirtybird. Meanwhile we’ve been touring CHRISTIAN MARTIN and J.PHLIP very successfully and have 2 upcoming tours for JUSTIN MARTIN and one for WORTHY just around the corner.

AB: How often do you speak and meet with your artists? Is there a lot of trust involved? How is it being based in Berlin when your DJs are constantly traveling around the world?

DZ: I guess I can say that I speak or email with them on a daily base. In times of smart-phones and permanent internet access, its not a big deal to keep in touch.

AB: Do you got loads of strange booking requests? What’s the weirdest one you’ve had?

DZ: Basically the worst ever, which we unfortunately accepted, was a big party in France called Skins Party. UK people will know the TV series… so you can imagine what a chaos that was, the promoter being the same age as their audience. All wedding requests…. from weddings for right-wing Russians to weddings on private islands in the Caribbean.

AB: Why do DJs have agents? Is it not something they can manage themselves?

DZ: Each gig brings so much administration work with it, that a single person won’t be able to handle. We provide the structure for it, and sometimes its even tough for us to keep on top of everything.

Nobody would imagine the work behind each single booking. It really pays of when the profile of one of our artists really grows whilst they’re with us- you’ve got to stick with them! For everybody else we kinda work for free and helping to get them to that level.

AB: There is ALOT of hype around your artists at the moment, especially with the success of Made To Play and Deadfish churning out a number of this summers massive tunes. Surely this has been great for business, but also, has it allowed the agency to grow and extend its family?

DZ: I think we’ve been growing quite reasonably in the last 1.5 years of our existence. Soundwise, we also openend up a bit recently, as there is just more to do than one sound or style. We wanna be able to provide different musical line ups for different stages and occasions. We have also great responsibility for dirtybird now in Europe, getting all of the core members of the label playing as much as possible in Europe.

But yeah, the success of artists like ZOMBIE DISCO SQUAD, ROUND TABLE KNIGHTS, SOLO and JUSTIN MARTIN kept us busy this year, but also gave us the oppertunity to add for example POL_ON (Freerange, Connaisseur) or JET PROJECT (Snatch, Extended Play), both of which we’re big fans and expect lots in the coming year.

AB: We’ve just had Part 1 of the London Jackmode parties, and we can’t wait until Part 2… can you tell us what we might expect from the next party?

DZ: We’ve been so excitied about the first touchdown and how well it was received. We have, again, a great line up; with JESSE ROSE (Made To Play, Frontroom) as a very special guest. Zombies will be present too, who played an amazing set last time.

From Berlin we’re gonna bring OLIVER $; Jesse Rose’s partner in crime. Room Two, (which will be represented by our mates from the PELSKI blog again) will bring you different sounds from their own CHARLES DARKLY, Troublevision’s MR SOLID GOLD + PARK RANGER, PARDON MY FRENCH DJs bringing the Disco, all the way to the deep to techy house from Belfast’s JET PROJECT.

So we hope we will even have more people coming down and check that out…

That’s all from us- but what can we say? - GET DOWN AND EXPERIENCE IT YOURSELF… Jackmode @ Counter Culture Project, Saturday 18th Decembber 7-9 Crucifix Lane, London Bridge SE1 3JW featuring Jesse Rose, Zombie Disco Squad, Oliver $, Jet Project and more… Tickets still available £12 from Resident Advisor / Ticketweb
