The death of the Pioneer CDJ1000? FINALLY!
Pioneer recently announced that the CDJ1000 production in the UK will be discontinued. This is due to the release of the rather clever new CDJ900 & 2000s models. The CDJ1000 player re-defined the way DJs played music in clubs and bars all over the world and back again, and though it is sad to see them go. It is, after all, making way for the new CDJ models which are lacking in sales, especially to bars and clubs, as mentioned in my previous CDJ2000 post. Perhaps this will be Pioneers way of pushing the new models into the clubs and bars so that DJs can actually benefit from them.
Pioneer’s Martin Dockree said:
“It is with mixed feelings that today we announce to the channel the discontinuation of the CDJ 1000MK3…….thanks to the hard work of our then newly appointed direct retailers, installers and established distribution, as well as the DJ’s who instantly recognised it as the first real practical DJ CD player, it very quickly became an industry standard fixture in the DJ booth.”
It certainly has been a strange few years, what with the development of very clever, effective and cheap Digital DJ gear versus the Technics MK5’s discontinuation, and now with the recent CDJ1000 death. Two of the most iconic DJ tools are being phased out to make way for the newer technology.
The CDJ1000 will be missed but will doubt pave the way for newer better technology.
